At the Newark and Sherwood Planning Committee meeting yesterday 6th October 2020 the application for Bulcote Steading was submitted with a recommendation to approve. Following representations from Bulcote Parish Council and District Councillor Tim Wendels the Committee voted to approve the application by 11 to 3 for the 56 units and 10 to 4 for the 9 units respectively. The Listed Building Consent was unanimously for. Obviously this is a big disappointment given the effort put in over the past five years to reject the application. The approval does however still require the agreement of the Secretary of State as it includes development within the Green Belt. In addition Highways original


Bulcote Farm Development is to again go before the Planning Committee Meeting on Tuesday 6th October 2020 with a recommendation for approval. This is despite the fact that when the application was deferred in February 2019 the recommendation was for refusal on the grounds of inadequate highway access. The highway issues still remain unresolved so it is difficult to understand how it can now be recommended for approval. Bulcote Parish Council will present a Statement of their Objections (see below) at what will be a virtual meeting.
